Me especializo en estudios de género y en el análisis del cuento de hadas y sus reescrituras contemporáneas en la literatura, el cine y otros medios. Mi investigación se centra en la reescritura de la bruja en la ficción de Oz de Gregory Maguire, a partir de la intersección entre fealdad, maldad y brujería. Más allá del universo de Oz, estudio temas como la asociación entre fealdad y maldad, la estigmatización de la mujer disidente y las sanciones a las transgresiones femeninas, así como su reformulación en la fantasía contemporánea, incluido el universo Disney. Asimismo, exploro la relación entre el cuento de hadas literario y el cine de terror contemporáneo, y, de forma más amplia, la representación del tropo de la “mujer mala” en la cultura occidental.

I specialise in gender studies and in the analysis of fairy tales and their contemporary retellings in literature, film, and other media. My research focuses on the reimagining of the fairy-tale witch in Gregory Maguire’s Oz fiction through the intersection of ugliness, wickedness, and witchcraft. Beyond the Oz universe, I examine themes such as the association between ugliness and evil, the stigmatisation of the deviant woman, and the sanctions imposed on women’s transgressions, as well as their reformulation in contemporary fantasy, including the Disney universe. I also explore the relationship between the literary fairy tale and contemporary horror cinema and, more broadly, the representation of the “bad woman” trope in Western culture.
